MEET OUR TEAM

  • Keith Lavit - President

Our current Board President and founder, Keith, is a traveler at heart. In his travels, Keith has discovered much need, as well as possibility, for sharing resources across borders to supplement (or counteract) the status quo. Keith is a fractional CFO by trade who works with entrepreneurs, small businesses and not-for-profits to help them achieve their visions in a very practical sense. Being a dreamer himself though, he enjoys bringing his own projects to fruition, including his urban flower garden.

  • Gillian Sollenberger - Vice President

Gillian, an architect, works in affordable housing development, and the intersection of architecture, urbanism and community has framed her career. It started with watching subdivisions go up around her family home in the suburbs of Chicago, turned into an interest in how environmental, political, and cultural pressures impact individuals and the communities they live in, and continues with Fostering Frameworks.

  • Mathew McDermid - Treasurer

Mat's background is in social and environmental impact strategy and campaigning: ranging from human rights to decarbonizing heavy industry; at global and local levels; and with nonprofits, philanthropy, and corporate sectors. With his cross-cutting experience, he aims to bring best practices to and avoid the historical errors of grantmaking and support. Mat grew up in Australia and now calls New York City home.

  • Lisa Karlich - Secretary

With over twenty years in public service, Lisa is a life-long educator who has worked in a variety of roles that included being a science and math teacher in New York City public schools, an instructional coach, and a formative assessment administrator. She is an avid supporter of developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills as a pathway to building economic security, success, and sustainability.

  • Brigit Culligan

Brigit is a high school teacher living in one of the most beautiful places in the country. She’s excited about the work that's happening at Fostering Frameworks because she’s seen first hand the power in local partnership in development and revitalization of towns and cities. People are where the ideas and action come from; she wants to expand on that to help others see their ideas and development come to life.

  • Michael Zitolo

Michael is a high school science teacher with a passion for physics, engineering, and coding. He believes that education is a critical piece of most problems, which is why he's proud to be part of Fostering Frameworks. Through this organization he hopes to connect with and support educational initiatives that will help others pursue their dreams and lead to positive impacts on our world.

  • Sonali McDermid

Sonali Shukla McDermid is a climate scientist who works at the intersection of climate change, land management, and agricultural development. She sees supporting and enabling local and regional communities to meet their educational and resilience goals as crucial to both tackling the climate crisis and creating a better, more just world. Organizations like Fostering Frameworks play a critical role in helping communities to garner the resources they need to do this.
